PUBLIC SEMINAR: CARING Perspectives: Living with Dementia and the Caregiver Experience

A public seminar entitled 'CARING Perspectives: Living with Dementia and the Caregiver Experience' will take place on Monday 28th November, 2016 at 2-6pm in the Lewis Glucksman Gallery, UCC.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Eamon O鈥橲hea (NUI, Galway) - Current issues in Dementia Care in Ireland and Internationally
  • Ms Vanessa Bradbury (The Alzheimer Society Of Ireland) 鈥 Insights Into Dementia: A Brief Evaluation of Feedback from Family Carers鈥
  • Ms Betty Cogan (Cork Alzheimer Caf茅) - The Carer鈥檚 Perspective
  • Ms Kathy Ryan (Vice Chair of Irish Dementia Working Group) 鈥 Living With Younger Onset Alzheimers鈥 and
  • Dr Andrew Allen (UCC/APC Microbiome Institute) 鈥淪tress in Caregivers鈥

Exhibition of unique artwork developed during the project guided by expert art therapists, Ms Karen Meikle, Mr Killian O鈥橠wyer and Ms Tina Whelan.

The Symposium is hosted by UCC鈥檚 Department of Psychiatry & Neurobehavioral Science and Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation, together with the APC Microbiome Institute. The Health Research Board (HRB) is supporting this symposium through a Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Award which aims to maximize the uptake of research findings into policy and/or practice.
