Biography

Michael holds the Chair of Medical Microbiology at UCC and is a Principal Investigator in the APC鈥檚 Infectious Disease core and a Consultant Microbiologist at Cork 深夜亚洲福利久久 Hospital. He is a medical graduate from the 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Birmingham, UK, and received his PhD in Microbiology from the 深夜亚洲福利久久 of London, following postgraduate study at the Institut Pasteur, Paris, France. He was a Senior Lecturer at Barts and the London Medical School. His research centres on bacterial genomicsand role of horizonatally trasmitted genes in bacterial pathogenicity and evolution; biomedical applications of bacterial microcompartments; molecular epidemiology of bacterial pathogens and pathogenic Yersinia species.
