Jason is a registered Architect and holds a PhD in Architecture from The 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Edinburgh. He graduated with Distinction from The 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Edinburgh and from Queen鈥檚 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Belfast with First Class Honours. He is currently Interim Director at Cork Centre for Architectural Education (UCC/MTU), Director of Teaching & Learning, MArch Programme Director, and Joint Programme Director of the MSc 鈥淩e-designing the Post-Industrial City.鈥 He is an active member of the RIAI and sits on the Board of Architectural Education (BAE) and on the Steering Group of the HCI Project 鈥楤uilding Change: Designing a Resilient Future through Architecture Education.鈥 His research is intersectional 鈥 focused on developing new research practices exploring socio-cultural possibilities through speculative design methodologies, and leads a number of EU funded research projects including 鈥楤AUHAUS Goes North鈥 (2023). His students have won a number of prestigious awards most notably including Winning, Finalist, and Shortlisted projects at the EUMies 鈥淵oung Talent in Architecture Award鈥 2023, the RIBA President鈥檚 Silver Medal 鈥淪erjeant Prize鈥 2021, and the EAAE Best Diploma Project [Innovation] 2016, while a number of his students were selected for exhibition as part of the 鈥淰isionaries鈥 Exhibition at the Lisbon Triennale 鈥楾ERRA鈥 (2022).
He has been twice nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture 鈥 the EUMies Award - in 2009 and 2020 鈥 and was a finalist for the BD Young Architect of the Year in 2008 and 2016. He was awarded the Edinburgh Civic Medal (1999) and first place in the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) Graduate Awards for Architecture (1999), and chosen for Building Design "Class of 1999" which showcased the best Architecture graduates across the UK. He has received several other Architecture Awards including a Special Commendation at the inaugural World Architecture Festival in Barcelona (2008), an AAI Special Award (2008), and a number of AAI and RIAI Awards and Commendations. He has been an Exhibition Curator of Graduate works at Architecture at the Edge (2023), the Lisbon Triennale (2022), Athens Biennale (2017), Tallinn Architecture Biennale (2013), and Istanbul Design Week (2013).
Jason is a Reviewer for a number of Architectural Research Journals including DMJournal鈥Architecture and Representation (UK), Architectural Theory Review (Taylor & Francis), and has been an invited critic at a number of Schools of Architecture including: The Bartlett, UCL, TU Delft, The Mackintosh School of Architecture, The 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Edinburgh, The Queen's 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Belfast, 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Ulster, 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Limerick, 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Dublin, and The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture. He has lectured extensively on his research in architecture 鈥 while most notably Keynote Speaker at: 鈥淏auhaus Futures/ Bauhaus Presences鈥 (2022), 鈥淩e-appropriation and Representation鈥 (2020), the Andrew Carnegie PhD Symposium at the 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Edinburgh (2014), and the Showcase Lecture at the European Architecture Student Assembly along with Pritzker Prize Laureates Grafton Architects (2008). His essay "John Hejduk and Samuel Beckett: Going on, in Silence and Lateness" was published in "The Place of Silence: Architecture / Media / Philosophy,鈥 Bloomsbury Publishing (2020), and he is currently developing an anthology of architectural works and essays that look at the theoretical limits of Islands and how they hold a distinct place in the cultural, philosophical, and literary consciousness.

Maroun Tabbel is a lecturer in CCAE. He is a Building information Modelling (BiM) integration consultant, ICT specialist, & CS-IS PhD researcher along with being Comprehensive Anticipatory Design Scientist (CADS) delivering theory & practice of critical design thinking for iterative systematic environmental analysis and simulations using Building Information Modelling (BiM) standards & methodologies. Maroun focuses his teaching on creating skilled modelling and three-dimensional printing using Fuller Synergetic Geometry.

Ms. Gerry McCarthy (Retired)
An experienced, student-orientated administrator focused on creating a supportive and positive environment for students to succeed in CCAE. Gerry works collaboratively with a team of 10 full-time and 30 part-time staff members. Having built strong relationships with a wide number of internal and external stakeholders Gerry has an excellent knowledge of policies and procedures in both MTU and UCC.
