CGR highlights research on Microbiome and Cognitive Decline at AD/PD 2025
Congratulations to Dr. Kseniya Simbirtseva, who represented CGR and APC Microbiome Ireland at AD/PD 2025 鈥 the International Conference on Alzheimer鈥檚 and Parkinson鈥檚 Diseases and related Neurological Disorders, held in Vienna, Austria.
This year鈥檚 prestigious congress welcomed over 5,000 participants from around the world, maintaining its reputation as one of the most important global events in the field of neurodegenerative and neurocognitive disorders.
Dr. Simbirtseva presented findings from the COGBIOME project, a joint initiative led in collaboration with Prof. Suzanne Timmons and Prof. Paul O'Toole, exploring the role of the gut microbiome in cognitive decline. Her talk, titled 鈥淕ut Microbiome Alterations and Their Association with Cognitive Decline in Neurocognitive Disorders鈥 was very well received.
In addition to presenting, Dr. Simbirtseva served as a moderator of the highly engaging symposium on 鈥楤rain-Gut Interactions, Microbiome鈥 alongside Dr. Sangram Sisodia, where leading experts discussed emerging evidence and novel insights into the microbiome鈥揵rain connection.
This achievement highlights CGR鈥檚 ongoing commitment to translational, collaborative research and to contributing meaningfully to the global effort to better understand and treat neurodegenerative diseases.
