Findings of the first ever audit of Parkinson鈥檚 disease care in Ireland have now been published
Today, on World Parkinson鈥檚 day (Thursday 11th April), the first ever national audit of Parkinson鈥檚 disease (PD) care in Ireland has been published by the Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation. It shows areas of good practice, along with many areas for improvement in specialist PD care.
The aim of this audit is to provide information on how well Movement Disorder services in Ireland are delivering timely, responsive and patient centred multi-disciplinary care to patients who have Parkinson鈥檚 disease. Eleven clinics across Ireland that provide Parkinson鈥檚 disease care were involved in the audit, with patient cases assessed to examine the type of care provided to those who have Parkinson鈥檚 disease.

Supporting the launch, we had talks from Prof. Graham Hughes, Prof. David Bradley, Parkinson's Ireland CEO Shane O Brien, and Parkinson's advocate, Naomi Gleeson.
The key findings from the audit were then presented by Lecturer, Mapping Parkinson's Project Manager and Audit Coordinator, Dr. Emma O Shea.
