Eighteenth-Century Ireland Society Annual Conference
12-14 June 2015
The School of English is proud to be hosting the Annual Conference of the . We will be welcoming scholars from Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA to a two-day interdisciplinary conference which features plenary lectures from Diarmaid 脫 Cath谩in on 鈥楾he Irish Language, the 鈥淲ild Geese,鈥 and the Irish Colleges in Europe in the Eighteenth-century鈥, Prof Christine Gerrard on Swift's 'triumfeminate' of poets, and Prof David Dickson on Cork city and Catholic relief, 1755-95.
The School of English is also sponsoring a special panel on 'Writing Historical Fiction', featuring , author of The House where it Happened, a gripping novel set in Antrim in 1711/12 and exploring Ireland鈥檚 only witchcraft trials. The panel will also include , lecturer in Fiction, and , PhD candidate in Creative Writing. The panel takes place on Friday, 12 June, 2.30-4. This session is open to all.
