UCC鈥檚 2018/19 School of English reading series kicks off on Tuesday, October 9, with one of Ireland鈥檚 leading novelists, John Banville.

October 9, West Wing 6 @ 7pm

Banville is the author of more than 20 novels, both under his own name and his crime-writing pseudonym Benjamin Black. He is also a memoirist and screenwriter and has adapted several of Heinrich Von Kleist鈥檚 plays for the stage.  He won the Booker Prize with his 2005 novel The Sea.  His most recent novel, Mrs Osmond, is a speculative continuation of the Henry James novel, Portrait of a Lady.

The reading will take place at October 9, West Wing 6 @ 7pm. 

Admission is free and all are welcome.

            

Other readers coming as part of the series include fiction writers Paul Lynch, Carys Davies, Donal Ryan and poet Colette Bryce.

November 20, 2018:  鈥淢ining the Past鈥  - Novelist, Paul Lynch, winner of the 2018 Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award for his famine novel, Grace, and Carys Davies, current Frank O鈥機onnor Short Story Fellow and past winner of the Frank O鈥機onnor International Short Story Award for her collection The Redemption of Galen Pike.

January 22, 2019 鈥 Guardian Prize-winner and Booker nominated Donal Ryan and poet Colette Bryce, winner of the 2018 Piggott Prize for Poetry.
