Remembering Maryse Cond茅 Thursday 5 December 4-7pm

22 Nov 2024

Join us for a programme of events in commemoration of the life of Maryse Cond茅 (1934-2024), the award-winning Guadeloupean writer who passed away earlier this year.

Winner of the Alternative Nobel prize in 2018 and considered among the most f锚ted and well-known contemporary writers working in the French language, Cond茅鈥檚 work is translated and read in multiple countries worldwide. As she herself wrote, 鈥榃e live in a world where, already, frontiers have ceased to exist鈥. The programme will be multilingual with a focus on French, Creole and English, and has been organised by the Department of French in collaboration with the Memory, Commemoration and Uses of the Past research cluster. With thanks to the Centre for Advanced Studies in Languages and Cultures (part of UCC Future Humanities Institute) and UCC Department of French for their support of this event.
