2016. April 18th. A dozen Galician women - Research seminar with Elvira Ribeiro
The Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and the Irish Centre for Galician Studies are delighted to present A dozen Galician women, a research seminar on Galician female writers by Galician poet Elvira Ribeiro.
All welcome!
In 1976 the publishing house Galaxia issued A Dozen Galicians, conversations between the journalist and writer V铆ctor Freixanes and twelve figures of Galician culture. All men. Forty years later, and now well into the second decade of the 21st Century (being called by some 鈥淭he Woman鈥檚 Century鈥), it is more than appropriate to turn our attention to (at least) 鈥淎 Dozen Galician Women鈥, in this case, poets. Each of them Galician and contemporary women poets: Chus Pato (Ourense, 1955), Ana Roman铆 (Noia, 1962), Helena de Carlos (Cenlle, 1964), Lu铆sa Castro (Foz, 1966), Lupe G贸mez (Curtis, 1972), Est铆baliz Espinosa (A Coru帽a, 1974), Olga Novo (A Pobra do Broll贸n, 1975), Iolanda Z煤帽iga (Vigo, 1975), Mar铆a do Cebreiro (Santiago de Compostela, 1976), Silvia Penas (Vigo, 1980), Valentina Carro (Cambados, 1984), Oriana M茅ndez (Vigo, 1984).
All welcome!
