IERG Present Factory of the Future at Seafest 2015
IERG were represented on July 10th and 11th 2015 by Dr. Dominic O鈥橲ullivan, Dr. Ken Bruton, Kevin Leahy, Andrew McGregor and Se谩n Hayes at the opening of UCC鈥檚 new research facility in Ringaskiddy, the Beaufort Building. To mark the occasion the 鈥淪eaFest 2015鈥� event was held to demonstrate among other things the benefits achievable by intelligently managing renewable energy resources such as wind and wave power. IERG demonstrated a working prototype of a 鈥淔actory of the Future鈥� model, which was used to explain to industry and research representatives how production at an industrial facility can be scheduled and optimised to maximise the usage of clean, renewable energy. The model is to be used as an educational tool going forward, with further development to be undertaken by undergraduate engineering students.
