Our Hypertension Awareness Day
Organised by The Committee, Nursing and Midwifery Society, UCC.
High blood pressure is known as the Silent Killer and on March 21st, committee members from UCC鈥檚 Nursing and Midwifery Society organised an event aimed at increasing the awareness of hypertension amongst students and staff in UCC.
The event was a great success, and it was amazing to see the interest and the enthusiasm from everyone across campus. Lots of staff approached us and asked us questions, taking information flyers and many people wanted their blood pressure checked. People asked questions about how to prevent hypertension, how to check if you have it, what blood pressure numbers mean, and all found our flyers a very useful source of information.
We are very grateful for the help from staff and fellow students in UCC, particularly Dr Carol Condon and Irene Hartigan from .
And a special mention to Jackie the Dog! We saw how spending some time with Jackie reduced people鈥檚 blood pressure in just a few minutes which was incredible!
