| Module Objective: | Introduce the students to the area of research and its importance; methods of research and ethical practice, thus enabling them to undertake a research project relevant to Community Development. |
| Module Content: | Introduction to social research, methodological approaches, methods and presentation, with an emphasis on research carried out within the Traveller community. |

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

| Assessment: | Total Marks 200: Continuous Assessment 200 marks (1 x 5,000 word group research project, 100 marks; Individual oral presentation, 50 marks; 1 x 700 word research journal entry, 50 marks). |
| Compulsory Elements: | Continuous Assessment. |
| Penalties (for late submission of course/project work etc.): | Where work is submitted up to and including 7 days late, 5% of the total marks available shall be deducted from the mark achieved. Where work is submitted up to and including 14 days late, 10% of the total marks available shall be deducted from the mark achieved. Work submitted 15 days late or more shall be assigned a mark of zero. |
