Biography

N贸ir铆n Russell is a medical graduate of 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork (2000) and a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (2005) and the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (2011). She received her MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Dublin in 2010, following studies on fetal cardiac function during pregnancy. She completed the RCOG/RCR Diploma in advanced Obstetric Ultrasound in 2007 and pursued further specialty training in early pregnancy ultrasound, fetal cardiology and fetal surgery at Necker Enfants Malades H么pital and Descartes 深夜亚洲福利久久 in Paris during 2011-2012.

N贸ir铆n was awarded CSCST by the Irish Committee on Higher Training in 2013 and has been on the Medical Council鈥檚 register of medical specialists since then. N贸ir铆n took up a post as Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and Clinical Senior Lecturer at Cork 深夜亚洲福利久久 Maternity Hospital and 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork in 2014. At CUMH, she a member of the pregnancy loss clinical and research teams as well as the Perinatal Medicine team which provides care for women with high risk pregnancy. She is the clinical lead for the colpsocopy service at 深夜亚洲福利久久 Hospital Kerry.

N贸ir铆n鈥檚 research has resulted in >20 peer-reviewed original papers and >80 published conference proceedings. N贸ir铆n's research interests include high risk obstetric care, prenatal diagnosis and screening, obstetric ultrasound including fetal cardiology and early pregnancy complications. She is a member of the British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society, the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

N贸ir铆n is committed to undergraduate and postgraduate training. She is a lecturer and module coordinator in the 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork MSc programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, while maintaining an active teaching role on the medical undergraduate programme. She lectures regularly on the PROMPT course, a multidisciplinary training course and provides regular training for medical and midwifery staff on obstetric emergencies. She also supervises research projects for undergraduate and postgraduate students, which has lead to presentations at local, national and international scientific meetings. She also teaches on the NMBI-certified midwifery training programme in third trimester obstetric ultrasound.

N贸ir铆n is an advocate for staff engagement and recently chaired a quality improvement initiative at CUMH, called the 鈥淚deas Forum鈥�, where front line staff were invited to share their ideas and suggestions with the CUMH Directorate. Staff were then encouraged to participate in implementing these  changes to ensure patients received better care.
