Colm McElwain and Samprikta Manna, PhD candidates in Dr. Cathal McCarthy鈥檚 lab both presented oral communications at the International Federation of Placenta Associations (IFPA) Annual Meeting.
IFPA, the International Federation of Placenta Associations is a scientific federation of four placental research organisations from around the world. The theme of this year鈥檚 IFPA Annual Meeting was 鈥淣ext Generation of Placental Research鈥�. This theme was chosen to emphasize the research performed by young investigators and give them a large platform to present their work. The annual IFPA meeting was held virtually this year.
Colm presented on his HRB funded PhD research titled: 鈥淓lucidating a role for the NLRP3 inflammasome in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus鈥�
Samprikta presented on her H2020 iPlacenta (https://www.iplacenta.eu/) funded PhD research titled: 鈥�Identification of senescence associated pathways in placental anatomical sub-regions using a Proteomics approach鈥�
