Fast Reaction Kinectics in NMR Spectroscopy using InsightXpress
The Analytical and Biological Chemistry Research Facility (ABCRF) at 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork (UCC) has recently installed a state-of-the-art NMR spectroscopy infrastructure, featuring a Bruker InsightXpress MR system. This advanced system enables the spectroscopic monitoring of extremely fast (millisecond) reactions, a capability that has not been possible for NMR to date.
The Fast reaction kinetics in NMR Spectroscopy (FaNS) infrastructure is a significant addition to the existing Process Flow Spectroscopy (ProSpect) facility, which offers state-of-the-art real-time analysis of both batch and continuous reaction processes. It includes a dedicated InsightXpress MR system equipped with a stopped-flow pump and precisely timed trigger pulse, facilitating the rapid mixing of reagents at the NMR spectrometer. This system is integrated with a Bruker Ascend Evo 400 MHz superconducting magnet and powered by a Bruker Avance III NEO console, which offers enhanced configuration options with its two channels for maximum 1D/2D experiment choice.
A significant technological advancement is the in-built UltraShield cryogenic cooling technology, which dramatically improves liquid helium and liquid nitrogen hold times. This innovation represents a major environmental, cost, and sustainability improvement.
Additionally, the 深夜亚洲福利久久 has acquired a liquid nitrogen plant. Liquid nitrogen is a crucial resource for a wide range of research activities, with the majority of its use dedicated to NMR spectroscopy. On-site generation of liquid nitrogen ensures a constant supply without interruption, substantially reducing both the cost and carbon footprint associated with its provision.
