Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience take Awards at Neuroscience Ireland Conference

The Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience, and Biosciences Institute were well represented at the recent awards ceremony.

Dr Holly Green, post doctoral researcher Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience, received 'best poster' award for her poster entitled 'The effect of IL-1BETA and GSK-3BETA-inhibition on TLX expression in embryonic rat hippocampal neural precursor cells'.  Shane Hegarty PhD student also from the Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience received 'best poster presentation' award for his work entitled 'BMP2 AND GDF5 induce neuronal differentiation through a SMAD dependant pathway in a model of human midbrain dopaminergic neurons'.  Dr. Lieve Desbonnet, senior postdoctoral researcher Neurogastroenterology lab, Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, received 'best oral presentation award' for her presentation 鈥淢icrobiota is essential for social development in the mouse鈥�.

Dr Eric Downer, Lecturer and Principal Investigator in the Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience was awarded the prestigious Neuroscience Ireland Early Career Investigator Award.
