Dr Siobhain O’Mahony delivered a very well received presentation at the 18th Shizuoka Forum on Health and Longevity in Shizuoka, Japan held  November 1^st and 2^nd 2013 .

Siobhain’s presentation discussed ‘ the link between gut microbiota, stress and inflammation in disorders of the CNS . The involvement of the gut microbiota in mental health is starting to be acknowledged with the acceptance that there is a bi-directional communication between the brain and the gut. The wealth of bacteria within the bowel play a role in both health and disease.
