Ireland's Flora & Fauna Since The Last Ice Age - Mooney Goes Wild

Did you know that Ireland once had a totally separate ecosystem, on a long vanished peninsula off the south coast, with its very own nature and wildlife?

And did you know that cranes once thrived on this island and enjoyed huge cultural significance?  These are just a couple of intriguing revelations in the latest edition of the Irish Naturalists’ Journal.  Dr Paddy Sleeman, who’s Senior Researcher at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at the ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork joined Derek Mooney on RTE Radio One to discuss these issues.

Paddy was awarded the 2015 Mammal Society Award for outstanding contribution to the Study of Wild Mammals at Lancaster in UK at Easter.  Another meeting is planned in Belfast in September 2016, called The Origins of Ireland’s Ecosystem (OIE).
