Summer Vacation Studentships for Third Year Students Summer 2019
Over the Summer of 2019 Biochemistry, Biomedical Science and Genetics students secured an array of competitive scholarships enabling them to conduct independent research projects and gain significant laboratory experience.

Dr Sin茅ad Kerins and the outreach team raised and provided consumable funding support for the research projects conducted in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.
Dr Susan Joyce sponsored and organised lunch in BSI on the 7th June 2019 for the recipients. Staff also in attendance were Dr Kellie Dean, Dr Eoin Fleming, Ms Mary Heapes, Dr Sin茅ad Kerins, Dr Ken Nally and Dr Paul Young. The students were officially welcomed and congratulated on their success in securing a Summer bursary. In advance of lunch there was a photo shoot organised by Ms Mary Heapes and Dr Joyce and Dr Kerins would like to thank Mary for the fabulous pictures.
Dr Joyce also organised for all the students to attend APC organised student activities, including focused seminars, training workshops and outreach. This hugely added to the student experience and enhanced their skill sets.
Students also had the option of completing pre-placement training in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, which was run by Dr Sin茅ad Kerins, Noreen Casey and Jenny Duane.
The staff in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology are delighted in the level of interest from students in conducting research and appreciate the competitiveness of the students.
