2021 Regeneron Awards

Congratulations to the recipients of the Regeneron MSc Biotechnology awards, Liam Nicholl, Josh O'Brien and Aoife Sreenan. Aoife and Liam are first class honours UCC BSc Biochemistry graduates and Josh is a first class honours MTU Pharmaceutical Biotechnology graduate.

Aoife鈥檚 was selected for her presentation entitled 鈥淗ow COVID-19 variants are influencing the Biotechnology industry as they research and develop treatments and vaccines鈥� and Liam鈥檚 and Josh鈥檚 presentations were entitled 鈥淏iotechnology Innovation targeting COVID-19鈥�.

All three award recipients will complete their placement in Regeneron from April 2022, with Aoife working in the Quality Assurance Department, and Liam and Josh working in the Process Sciences Department.

Many thanks to Kate Donegan and the staff at Regeneron for organising these awards and for supporting students from the UCC MSc Biotechnology programme.

2020 Regeneron Awards

Sc Biotechnology students, Sarah Hannon, Alice Kenrick and Ian O鈥橲hea were presented with 'Regeneron Ireland College Awards' on 19th November 2020.

Aiveen Campbell compered the awards ceremony and Professor Tommie McCarthy, Director of the MSc in Biotechnology delivered the opening address which included recognising the achievements of the awards recipients and thanking Regeneron for their ongoing support of the Biotechnology programme and providing the graduates with such wonderful career opportunities.

The Process Sciences Awards were presented to Alice Kenrick and Ian O鈥橲hea by John Crowley Executive Director Process Sciences and the Quality Assurance Award was presented to Sarah Hannon by Sandra Liddy, Senior Manager, Quality Assurance.

 Alice, Ian and Sarah who are all BSc Biochemistry graduates received a bursary and a placement at Regeneron. It is extremely rewarding to see high-calibre Biochemistry graduates being recognised for their achievements and we wish them every success in their future careers.

2019 Regeneron Awards

MSc Biotechnology students Kevin Russell, R贸is铆n O鈥機onnor and Kevin Lall.y were the 鈥淩egeneron Ireland College Award鈥� winners from UCC.

The 2019 Regeneron Ireland College Awards, in collaboration with UCC, were announced this week at an event in Regeneron鈥檚 Industrial Operations and Production Supply (IOPs) facility in Limerick.

The awards acknowledge outstanding research projects which are presented by selected students pursuing degrees in science and engineering. The winning students are awarded a generous bursary to support their studies, a paid placement at Regeneron and a Regeneron employee mentor to help them take the first steps of their careers.

To participate in the award selected students submitted a presentation on a specific topic related to their academic course. The shortlisted candidates were invited to present their findings to a group of senior Regeneron managers who selected the winners.

Speaking at the award presentation event, Niall O鈥橪eary, Vice President and Site Head, Regeneron, said, 鈥淩egeneron鈥檚 people make us who we are, and our passion for science is something that we want to encourage in third level students across in Ireland. Regeneron not only offers a compelling career, but also a unique culture where individuals are inspired to collaborate, think big, push boundaries and change the world. 2018 Regeneron Awards

Regeneron, in collaboration with 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork, has announced its new 鈥淩egeneron Ireland College Awards鈥�.

Regeneron is providing selected students pursuing degrees in science, engineering and related disciplines a monetary sum to support their studies in addition to a paid co-op internship with an assigned employee mentor at Regeneron鈥檚 facility in Limerick.

MSc Biotechnology students Peter Townsend, Thomas Coneran and Eilishe Purcell were the first 鈥淩egeneron Ireland College Award鈥� winners from UCC. The students attended an award ceremony with their families and college faculty members at Regeneron鈥檚 facility in Raheen Business Park, Limerick.

Students were invited to enter the Regeneron awards at the start of the college semester by preparing a presentation about specific topics related to their academic studies. The shortlisted candidates then presented and discussed their findings with a group of senior Regeneron managers who selected the eventual winners.

Tommie McCarthy, Professor in Biochemistry in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, UCC: 鈥淥ur national CAO system shows that the top 15% of our secondary school students now pursue science related courses in college. As an educator for over 30 years, I have never been more impressed with Irish science students and we are committed to working with industry to provide them with talented graduates. UCC鈥檚 education collaboration and partnership with Regeneron provides our students the opportunity to pursue meaningful roles that fully utilises their talent and gives them the opportunity to reach their maximum potential.鈥�

Staff from this School that attended the Awards ceremony were Dr Eoin Fleming, Dr Sin茅ad Kerins and Dr Justin McCarthy. Dr Dave Clarke, School of Microbiology, Dr Eric Moore School of Chemistry and Ms Yvonne Harding, Work Placement Manager for College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS), Careers Office were also in attendance. Yvonne Harding was instrumental in setting up the 鈥淩egeneron Ireland College Awards鈥�.
