Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowship Awardee
Dr. Robert Healy was awarded a European Commission Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowship in 2012 (€240,000) to perform a research project on the chemical and optical properties of Black Carbon particles in the atmosphere (CHEMBC).
As part of the Fellowship, Rob has been working jointly with Prof Greg Evans at the Southern Ontario Centre for Atmospheric Aerosol Research (SOCAAR) and Prof John Wenger in the at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork.
The research involves assessment of the air quality and climate implications associated with Black Carbon aerosols released into the atmosphere from fossil fuel combustion and biomass burning. Current work is focused on investigations of single particle diversity and mixing state, compilation of a global library of single particle mass spectral data, and state-of-the-art measurements of the chemical and optical properties of Black Carbon. The research involves active collaboration with researchers in the USA, Canada, China, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, France and the UK.
