European Taekwon-do Success for Chemistry PhD Student
School of Chemistry PhD student Anya Curran won three medals last week at the 2019 ITF Taekwon-do European Championships.
The championships took place last week (July 24-28) in Neptune Stadium, Cork. Anya was successful in winning individual gold in adult lightweight sparring, and further gold and silver medals followed in two team events - Team Patterns and Team Sparring.
Anya, who is a former 3 time martial arts world champion at 50 kg weight class, carries out her IRC-Enterprise funded postgraduate research in the under the supervision of Prof. Paul Hurley.
