Chemistry students awarded Quercus Scholar Medals
The College of SEFS hosted a special ceremony to honour our Quercus Scholar Medal recipients 2024-25 for the College of SEFS in the Aula Maxima on 22nd April 2026. A total of 21 students were recognised, including three Chemistry students, and they received a commemorative medal and certificate.
Prof Anita Maguire, Head of School said ‘Congratulations to Luca Bonnet, Elena Fontana and Caoimhe McGrath and all of the medal recipients across SEFS. The School is very proud of your achievements and delighted to see your work recognised in this way.’
The Quercus Scholar Medal is among the most prestigious undergraduate honours awarded by the ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã. It recognises sustained academic excellence and is presented annually to 21 students who have achieved exceptional results across programmes in science, engineering and food science.
The Medal is awarded based on the results of each of the End of Year First, Second year, and Third year university exams in programmes offered by the College of Science, Food Science and Engineering.
To be awarded a Quercus Scholar Medal is a significant achievement, reflecting not only outstanding intellectual ability, but also diligence, commitment and resilience.
These scholars represent the very best of the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science. They embody the curiosity, discipline and ambition that underpin excellence in STEM, and the core values that define ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork.
Their success is made possible not only through their own dedication, but also through the guidance and support of lecturers, tutors, demonstrators and mentors, as well as the encouragement of friends and family, all of whom we gratefully acknowledge.
We are immensely proud of what our Quercus Scholars have accomplished to date, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make in their academic and professional journeys.
