UCC School of Chemistry contributes to Irish Catalysis Conference 2026
The Irish Catalysis Conference 2026 was held in 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Limerick on 26th May. It brought together researchers from across the catalysis community for a day of scientific exchange, discussion and collaboration.
The event was co-organised by Gillian Collins from the School of Chemistry, 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork, alongside Bar Mosevitzky Lis and Matthias Vandichel from the Bernal Institute, 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Limerick. The conference featured excellent invited talks from Miguel A. Ba帽ares, Mark Muldoon, Pau Farr脿s, Eileen Yu, Amanda Jarvis and Kai Exner, highlighting the breadth and impact of catalysis research.
The School of Chemistry was strongly represented, with contributions spanning materials and organic chemistry. Doireann O鈥橪eary Brennan, Rebecca Henry and Clodagh Ryan, supervised by Dr Gillian Collins, presented research on catalytic approaches to plastic upcycling and the conversion of plastic waste into valuable products. Meadhbh Coomey, supervised by Dr David Jones, presented her work on new approaches to phosphorus-containing compounds using disulfide organocatalysts.
Special congratulations to Clodagh Ryan, who won Best Flash Talk Presentation for her research funded by the BiOrbic Research Ireland Centre for Bioeconomy.
