Abstract

Since the late 20th century, the rise of conservative and reactionary groups in the West has generated profound interest in right-wing movements and their connection to Christianity. This volume analyzes the 鈥渂lue tide鈥 that has brought them to power in Europe and Latin America, highlighting the preeminence of neo-Pentecostalism in the region over historical Catholicism. The work explores how these movements use social media to spread post-truths, polarize, and legitimize violence by invoking 鈥淕od, Country, and Home.鈥 Through a historical, comparative, and interdisciplinary review, this book places the religious phenomenon at the center of the analysis. It offers an in-depth look at the complex relationship between Christianity and right-wing movements in Latin America, encompassing everything from the evolution of Catholicism to the influence of evangelicalism in various political and social contexts, such as borders and authoritarian regimes. Its rigorous reading seeks to discard 鈥渆asy certainties,鈥 inviting the reader to a nuanced understanding of the phenomenon.
