The examiners were impressed by David's defence of his thesis. The thesis develops methods for reducing model and problem complexity in the area of classification tasks. Significant contributions are made to

(a) feature selection as a pre-processing step in machine learning for classification using the idea of dominance between features and

(b) complexity reduction of deep learning models for large classification without sacrificing accuracy.
