UCC Taught PG Postgraduate Programmes

Are you interested in addressing climate change? Do you want to develop skills to contribute to the energy transition to a low carbon future? UCC offer taught postgraduate programmes in energy engineering to graduates who already hold a bachelor鈥檚 degree in any engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.

UCC currently offer two taught postgraduate programmes in Energy Engineering:

• The MEngSc in Sustainable Energy is a 90-credit full-time NFQ-Level 9 programme, delivered over 12 months. It consists of 8 months of lectures in sustainable energy topics, and a 4-month research project leading to a minor thesis.
• The Postgraduate Certificate in Offshore Renewable Energy is a 30-credit part-time NFQ-Level 9 programme that can be completed online or in-person over 8 months. This programme is funded by  for eligible applicants.

Along with our microcredentials, our taught programmes are designed to be stackable: a student who completes the 30-credit Postgraduate Certificate can subsequently register for the MEngSc Sustainable Energy and complete the remaining 60 credits to get a Master鈥檚 degree. A student who completes a microcredential can get a 鈥榗redit鈥� towards either the Postgraduate Certificate in Offshore Renewable Energy, or the MEngSc in Sustainable Energy. Graduates from our taught postgraduate programmes are now working in a range of careers, including wind energy development, renewable heating systems, offshore renewable energy research, project management and strategic consultancy.
