Valio is Finland鈥檚 biggest food exporter, which brands itself as 鈥渢he most innovative dairy and food company in the world鈥�. Many years ago, a Valio employee won a Nobel Prize for figuring out how grass can be converted to silage using LAB fermentation. The School of Food and Nutritional Sciences in UCC have had several research interactions with Valio over the years, most recently in the form of a PhD project led by 3 in house academics.
