CPI and ICAD have come together to officially launch the Young Directors Awards 2018.
Now in its third year the aim is, as always, to find, award and nurture the best of the up and coming directors in Ireland today. The competition is open to student filmmakers and to directors already working in the industry.
There are 9 categories in total; Commercial, Spec Commercial, Short Film, Music Video, Animation, 360, The Producers Award and this year we have also added two new categories, an Overseas category, open to directors who have ties to the industry in Ireland but are currently working abroad and a Charity Film category.
Previous winners of have included Oscar winning director Benjamin Cleary (鈥淪tutterer鈥� and 鈥淟amp鈥�), Vincent Gallagher (鈥淪econd to None鈥� and 鈥淟ove Is a Sting鈥�) and Finn Keenan (Louis Berry 鈥淩estless).
This year for the first time, we are absolutely delighted to announce that the YDA Ireland winners will be automatically entered into the prestigious and internationally renowned Young Directors Awards at Cannes.
