Imelda O鈥橰eilly is an interdisciplinary artist and an award winning Irish filmmaker. She has lived on four continents Europe, Africa, Asia and North America. Her work explores themes of Identity, memory, trauma and exile. Her feature screenplay titled We鈥檙e the Kids in America was an Official Selection for L鈥橝t茅lier Cin茅fondation Cannes International Film Festival in 2018.

Her short films have appeared worldwide at over seventy film festivals including DOC NYC, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Cinequest Film and VR Festival, International Film Festival De Creteil and Cyprus International Film Festival. Her short film Eggs and Soldiers was broadcast on RTE,  museum and university screenings include Vero Beach Museum of Art, Alto 深夜亚洲福利久久, Helsinki and Fordham 深夜亚洲福利久久. O鈥橰eilly is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to Morocco where her film Bricks, Beds and Sheep鈥檚 Heads was a Regional Finalist for the Student Academy Awards. Other grants include NYWIFT, CUNY, CLEA, Mary Redman Foundation and a residency at tMabou Mines, Catwalk, Cill Rialaigh among others. As a commissioned writer on Song For New York her work was developed through the Sundance Theater Lab. She just completed a new short film titled Suspicious Minds. Additionally, she is a published poet and playwright.

Imelda has an MFA in Screenwriting and Directing with honors from Columbia 深夜亚洲福利久久 and is an Associate Professor of Film at James Madison 深夜亚洲福利久久. Previously she taught at New York 深夜亚洲福利久久鈥檚 Graduate Film Program, TischAsia in Singapore. Imelda was a juror for the Asia/Europe Film Festival, the Chicago Blow-Up Film Festival, and for the screenwriting competition for the Inwood Film Festival as well as a judge for the First Run Film Festival at NYU.
