The INSPIRE fellows volunteered at an education and public engagement event in Fota Wildlife park August 2023. They escorted families through the Alimentary Adventures inflatable digestive system while explaining how food is digested.

The first new researchers have joined APC Microbiome Ireland, a world leading SFI Research Centre based at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork, as part of the new INSPIRE Fellowship programme which was formally launched in 2022.

APC Microbiome Ireland, a world-leading SFI research centre based at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork (UCC), has launched the INSPIRE Fellowship programme which seeks to tackle challenges facing global food systems and health.  

Dr Manon Oliero on secondment with Gourmet Fuels Ltd. 

Manon joined APC Microbiome Ireland, a Research Ireland Centre based at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork as an INSPIRE Postdoctoral Fellow and works on the SCONE study (Satiety Control Optimization by Nutritional Enhancement) where her primary objective is to evaluate the effect of combining various dietary fibres in industrialized food products to better control glycemia throughout the day.

A three-day Entrepreneurship summer school was hosted for the INSPIRE fellows as part of the H2020 MSCA INSPIRE research and training programme.

Elisa joined APC Microbiome Ireland, a Research Ireland Centre based at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork as an INSPIRE Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate In situ phytate degradation of iron-fortified complementary foods by Bifidobacterium spp: a novel approach to tackle iron deficiency in early life. For Elisa, the secondment at the Daniel Carasso Danone Global Research & Innovation Centre in Paris-Saclay was an invaluable opportunity to broaden her scientific expertise and career perspective.
