鈥楾ending Joy鈥 - An Exhibition of Prints by UCC's First Year Occupational Therapy Students 聽
Since the foundation of the profession in 1917 and influenced by social movements including the Arts and Crafts Movement, art, craft and creative activities have played a central role in Occupational Therapy.
To explore this heritage and to examine first-hand the potential therapeutic power of creative activities, UCC鈥檚 first year Occupational Therapy students have an opportunity to participate in creative activities in module OT1005 Creative Occupations and Health, designed and led by Dr. Eithne Hunt in collaboration with Cork Printmakers. The students participate in printmaking sessions for two hours each week over six weeks, and then critically reflect on their experiences in the end of module written paper. Each year, Dr. Hunt selects a theme for the students to explore, reflecting the philosophy and content of the year one curriculum. The theme for this year鈥檚 creative sessions and exhibition is 鈥楾ending Joy鈥. In their creative sessions, the students were encouraged to reflect on how they experience and cultivate joy in the big and small moments of their daily lives.
An exhibition of the students鈥 work will take place from 7th February to 12th April.
The exhibition was opened by Odhr谩n Allen, CEO of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland.

鈥楢 Bee at UCC鈥 mural unveiled at Brookfield Health Sciences Complex
04 Oct 2022A bright mural will now welcome young patients, families, and staff at Brookfield Health Sciences Complex (BHSC) in 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork (UCC) as the 深夜亚洲福利久久 unveiled the large artwork today.
UCC commissioned artist Kevin O鈥橞rien to create the mural inspired by 鈥楢 Bee at UCC鈥, a book written by JP Quinn, Head of the UCC Visitors' Centre and illustrated by UCC graphic designer Charlie Ruxton.
Unveiling the mural 鈥楢 Bee at Brookfield鈥, Professor Nicole M眉ller said: 鈥淐ombinations of color, lighting, and texture are key to setting the tone for spaces such as patient waiting rooms. The mural has transformed our reception into a warm, bright and welcoming space for our paediatric clients from HSE and South Infirmary Victoria 深夜亚洲福利久久 Hospital (SIVUH)鈥.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, toys and children鈥檚 books had to be removed from the clinic reception which left the waiting rooms less welcoming.
