About the Exhibition
The annual exhibition of prints and textiles created by first year Occupational Therapy students was opened by textile artist Lesley Stothers in the Jennings Gallery on 25th September 2018. The students created their pieces with guidance from Lesley and tutors at Cork Printmakers as part of their module OT1005 Creative Occupations and Health, designed and led by Dr. Eithne Hunt.
This year鈥檚 theme, reflected in the students鈥 beautiful and thoughtful works, was 鈥淥ccupation: Everybody, Everywhere, Everyday鈥, words drawn from a paper by Emeritus Professor at the 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Southern California, Ruth Zemke. Ruth sent a message to the students, writing that when she entered the field of occupational therapy over 50 years ago, the definition of the profession always included 鈥渢he art and science鈥. She described how she learned over the years that both the art and science require creativity and an open mind to the wonders of the world around us - both natural and human made. Students Nicola Giles, Chloe Murphy and Chloe O鈥機onnell all read from the accompanying exhibition booklet, sharing the meaning behind their artworks.
