Dr. Aoife Fleming appointed Vice Head for Interprofessional Learning at College of Medicine and Health

Dr. Aoife Fleming will promote the development of Interprofessional Learning (IPL) opportunities for students as well as supporting collaborative partnerships between College of Medicine and Health and the health services and promoting public and patient engagement in IPL education. She will lead an IPL action plan and work with a community of IPL advocates across Schools and Departments in CoMH to promote IPL education and research.

School of Nursing and Midwifery ranked an impressive 33rd in the world in the QS Subject Rankings 2023 for Nursing

UCC鈥檚 School of Nursing and Midwifery has attained a top 50 place in the QS subject Rankings - a collective well done to the staff and students of the UCC鈥檚 School of Nursing and Midwifery, clinical partners and national and international collaborators linked with the School. This is truly a collective effort.
This year Nursing attained the highest subject ranking across 54 specific subjects ranked by QS within UCC - a fact that the school is extremely proud of.
In addition a QS score of 33, places UCC鈥檚 School of Nursing and Midwifery as the top ranked School in Ireland. World university rankings show nursing is one of Ireland鈥檚 strongest subjects with four Universities making it to the top 100 in the QS rankings most years.

鈥淚 feel privileged to be able to share what I have experienced, found and felt so far in my journey with the team behind the trial in the hope of making life better for more patients in future.鈥 Mr Martin O鈥橲ullivan from Cork who lives with prostrate cancer, was among the patients consulted in the trial鈥檚 design
Clinical trials for a new 鈧300,000 Irish Cancer Society research project based at Cork 深夜亚洲福利久久 Hospital and supported by the UCC Cancer Trial have been successful and this new project is expected to begin in April 2023 helping make crucial improvements to quality of life for men facing devastating cancer diagnoses.

Musculoskeletal conditions are a leading cause of disability worldwide, approximately 75 million people in Europe are affected by chronic pain; in Ireland alone an estimated 1.65 million people report chronic pain.
Despite the widespread prevalence of musculoskeletal pain conditions, management is often suboptimal with outcomes of treatment poor.
The 7th Interdisciplinary Cork Pain Symposium brings together international and local expertise in the field of pain science and management. The symposium aims to highlight current issues in pain management and present some of the current developments in musculoskeletal pain, its assessment and treatment.
