Warm congratulations to Siobh谩n N铆 Dhomhnaill, a student on the MA in Law and Irish, who won a major prize at Listowel Writers鈥� Week for her unpublished collection of poems. The adjudicator, poet Thomas McCarthy, was struck by the originality of her bilingual collection. Siobh谩n took the module GA6034 Creative Writing with Dr Ailbhe N铆 Ghearbhuigh and regularly attended the informal workshop in An Seomra Caidrimh during Semester 2. We are looking forward to seeing her poetry in print!  

Congratulations to Darragh 脫 Caoimh, a student of Law and Irish, on the publication of his poetry in the June issue of Comhar. Darragh participated in the Writing Workshop that met in the Seomra Caidrimh throughout Semester 2 this year. Treise leat, a Dharraigh!

A radio essay by our colleague, Dr Ailbhe N铆 Ghearbhuigh, was broadcast on RT脡 Raidi贸 na Gaeltachta recently, as part of a new series called Meascra. Ailbhe wrote a meditation on the breath, the poet Se谩n 脫 R铆ord谩in, lung disease and childbirth. You can listen back to it here: 

Gaelchol谩iste Thraolaigh Mhic Shuibhne will begin their inaugural first year in September. Roinn na Nua-Ghaeilge and Ionad na Gaeilge Labhartha have been supporting them in this initiative over the past twelve months. 

President P谩draig 脫 S茅 and Prof. 脫 Mach谩in welcomed the local schools who were invited to UCC to celebrate L谩 na Scoileanna Gaeilge and their contribution to the Irish language in the community.

A casual poetry workshop was held in the Seomra Caidrimh last month, organised by Dr Ailbhe N铆 Ghearbhuigh.

A group of MA students visited Corca Dhuibhne recently as part of the module GA6036, a poetry workshop facilitated by Dr Ailbhe N铆 Ghearbhuigh. Se谩n Mac a鈥� tS铆thigh spoke to the students about his experience as a video journalist with RT脡. He emphasised the importance of celebrating the achievements of local communities in the national news.
