The Summer Undergraduate Research Awards (SURE) is to foster an interest in research and to give the student an opportunity to become familiar with research techniques. The College of Medicine and Health invites applications for Summer Undergraduate Research Awards (SURE) from undergraduate students in health-related disciplines in UCC to support their participation in research during summer 2023. Awards of up to €2,000 per student are available for a maximum of eight weeks’ research. The award will cover a stipend of up to €1,600 (€200 per week) and an additional consumable budget of €400 and the School of Nursing & Midwifery has three awards available

Each year the School of Nursing and Midwifery celebrate The Annual Achievement Awards marking the valiant efforts and achievements of its students, staff and clinical colleagues who have exhibited excellence in all aspects of university life and will acknowledge students who have made broader societal contributions.

Each year the School of Nursing and Midwifery celebrate two perpetual awards with its Mental Health and Intelectual Disability students, the Nial O'Mahony Award and the Elaine Drummond award respectively. These awards are very much part of the start of term in September and are highlighted with two plaques in Brookfield foyer with all the previous winners. Our Perpetual Awards.

The Athena Swan Charter is a framework which is used across the globe to support and transform gender equality within higher education (HE) and research. Established in 2005 to encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment, the Charter is now being used across the globe to address gender equality more broadly, and not just barriers to progression that affect women.
