LYSA study @UCC and CUH profiled by Irish Universities Association

Ireland鈥檚 health system is grappling with multiple challenges that affect every household and hospital across Ireland. The Irish Universities Association is profiling exemplars of research across Irish Universities. The LYSA (Linking You to Support and Advice) Trial has been profiled from UCC. Through LYSA the research team aimed to evaluate the feasibility of introducing a women's malignancy survivorship clinic incorporating symptom management through electronic patient reported outcomes (ePRO) collection (complex intervention) into routine follow up care in patients with early-stage Hormone Receptor(HR)-positive breast and gynaecologic cancer post primary curative therapy.

The LYSA study was funded by Irish Cancer Society and Breakthrough Cancer Research. Professor Hegarty noted that 鈥渋t is a great honour to have the LYSA trial chosen to represent the positive impact that research can have on women on their cancer journey鈥�.  Surviving cancer can often feel isolating. To address this, Medical Oncologist and Director of Cancer Research @UCC, Prof. Roisin Connolly, and Prof. Josephine Hegarty from the School of Nursing and Midwifery 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team at Cork 深夜亚洲福利久久 Hospital and the HSE, with support from the Irish Cancer Society and Breakthrough Cancer Research, have developed and expanded the 鈥榃omen鈥檚 Cancer Survivorship鈥� programme.
