 Dr Anne Moore

Anne completed a PhD in HIV vaccine immunology with Professor Kingston Mills. She completed post-doctoral work on defects in immune responses in HIV-infected individuals in the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia and further work on recombinant vaccines against viruses such as HIV and Ebola virus in Dr.Gary Nabel's lab, then at the 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Michigan.

As a senior immunologist in Prof. Adrian Hill's group in the 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Oxford, she developed several T cell inducing vaccine candidates against malaria, TB and influenza and was involved in clinical trials of these and other vaccine candidates. She was鈥痑 Lecturer in Pharmacology, based in the School of Pharmacy, in early 2007. In 2016 she worked for 10 months with the vaccine biotech company,鈥疺axart, South San Francisco while on sabbatical. Here she worked on tablet-based oral vaccines for a range of therapeutic and prophylactic vaccine. In September 2018, she took a position as Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry and Cell Biology.   

Her research interests are in vaccine development, access and acceptability. She is interested in developing and clinically translating anti-viral vaccines that can be thermostabilised for easy distribution and new formats for easy administration, such as tablets, nasal sprays and skin patches. Dr. Moore and colleagues in the School of Pharmacy have published widely on vaccine confidence in Ireland.

    The Healthy Food Environment Policy Index (Food-EPI) European Union March 2021 \n

    An assessment of EU-level policies influencing food environments and priority actions to create healthy food environments in the EU.

    Overweight, obesity and diet-related non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a major public health challenge in Europe.

    Suboptimal diets are key contributors to increasing the risk of these diseases and thereby affect the health and economic systems of all European Member States.

    In addition, in most European countries socioeconomic inequalities in obesity and dietary patterns are evident. Population diets are influenced by food environments in European Member States.

Irish policies to tackle obesity 鈥榝all behind international best practice鈥�.

Experts call for 鈥榥o fry zones鈥�, school food policies and restrictions on unhealthy ads.

The first Irish Healthy Food Environment Policy Index (Food-EPI), conducted by 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork, compared the Irish food system to international standards.

Dr Janas Harrington from UCC鈥檚 School of Public Health, and lead-author of the report, said the findings highlight the need to reform Ireland鈥檚 鈥渇ood environment鈥�, which is defined as interconnected factors that characterise our food system and largely determine our dietary intakes.
