Clubs & Societies Days September 2022

Clubs and Societies Day 1 took place on Tuesday 13^th September (Sophomore Week) in Devere Hall to facilitate 2^nd, 3^rd, & 4^th years who were interested in getting involved in Clubs & Societies post Covid.

Clubs Day 2 took place in the Hub on Tuesday, 27^th September 2022 for Freshers. Clubs set up stands in the foyer of the Hub and in the marquee located outside the main entrance.

A steady flow of students passed through the foyer on the day and Clubs were busy signing up new members. Several Clubs put on displays and had club equipment present for freshers to 鈥渢ry out鈥�.  The Basketball Club had a basketball hoop outside for people to try their luck in 鈥渟hooting a basket鈥�.

42 Clubs were present on the day. The Clubs Executive & the Department of Sport & Physical Activity will work closely with Clubs in the coming year to stabilise club sport and strengthen existing clubs.

As of 30^th September 2022 there are 11,800 signups for club membership on the portal with 6,000 distinct members.

Societies Day 2 took place in the Hub on Wednesday 28^th September 2022 for Freshers. 92 Societies filled the Hub with colour and activity. The Aine Hyland Room played host to hourly workshops and classes.

A steady flow of students passed through the foyer on the day and societies were busy signing up new member with all delighted to have returned 100% to in-person activity. There are now 117 active student-led societies here in UCC with our oldest being the Philosophy Society and the newest the Jewish Society. As of 30^th September 2022 there are 59,371 signups for society membership on the portal with 12,643 distinct members.
