Conferring of Students with Intellectual Disability
It was a proud moment for 17 students with intellectual disabilities as they graduated from ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork on 11th November 2024. This was the second cohort of students to be conferred under the umbrella of the id+ Project.
Sponsored by the Deputy President and Registrar, the project promotes equality of opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities to attend third-level education and progress to paid employment.
During their time in college, the students brought a richness and diversity to the UCC community across our beautiful campus. They attended classes in 22 co-learning modules in a wide range of disciplines from all four Colleges, including Engineering, International Development, Public Health and Law, amongst others. They also engaged enthusiastically with a variety of clubs and societies, including the Dance Club, Trampoline Club, Musical Theatre Society and Dramat – thanks to the support of other students acting as Peer Buddies, who ensured they were fully included.
Congratulations to all the graduates!
