I found UCC through the Choctaw Nation, but it was the program's involvement with the Marginalized and Endangered Worldviews Study Center (MEWSC) that sold me on the course choice. As a person wanting to study Native Americans, there was no better option than having an entire, internationally connected study center dedicated to marginalized peoples. MEWSC was my selling factor, but there were so many attributes I enjoyed that I discovered after beginning the program.

Being involved with MEWSC contributed to the enterprising aspects of the program that I really enjoyed. I was given not just freedom, but support, to follow my own interest in the subject of Anthropology. Additionally, unlike in the United States, I felt like my education wasn鈥檛 a competition. I think that lack of competitiveness too was due to the program size. My class was only about 12 people. I never felt like I had to fight to be heard or to receive help in class. We all, also, became quick friends and saw each other outside of school. Coming from a different country this also helped my transition into life in Cork. These were the biggest stand-out qualities to me when I began the program, and still today watching as it continues.
 
I think most Americans don鈥檛 think to look at foreign colleges and, honestly, I didn鈥檛 either. I didn鈥檛 anticipate moving to a foreign country when I began my MA journey, but the experience was without a doubt worth it. I feel like I have grown as a student and an anthropologist. Today, I am still connected to the program and the anthropological community and am considering perusing a PhD in the subject.

I studied Anthropology on a 10-week online course for fun (with Oxford 深夜亚洲福利久久 Online) and realised that I loved the broad scope and flexibility of the discipline.  I wanted to continue my learning.

UCC is my local university and luckily, I found that a MA in Anthropology programme was available. I liked the range of core and elective modules on offer and the opportunity to conduct fieldwork abroad.  After an informal meeting with the Course Director, I was convinced that this was the place for me! 

The course was demanding, fast-paced, and thought-provoking. I appreciated how my class formed a strong and mutually supportive bond, despite the first year of my course being delivered online due to the pandemic.  I loved the multiple eureka moments of realising, "So that is why things are like this!" as we learned to constantly challenge assumptions.  I gained a deeper understanding of my own identity and developed my abilities throughout the course, especially during my summer of fieldwork in Morocco.

The MA complemented my previous studies and work experience and prepared me for working as an Applied Anthropologist, providing human-centric knowledge consultation services for solving real-world problems. 

I have decided to continue my academic anthropological journey and I've just started a PhD. Through my continued postgraduate studies, I have been already given tutoring and supervision opportunities.  (This has also made me realise just how much I learned during the MA course).

I would definitely recommend the course to a prospective student. The expert faculty members are personable and most encouraging. The course is flexible enough to incorporate individual subject interests and designed to incrementally upskill you in anthropology theory and practice.  Anyone willing to work very hard will find the course rewarding, if not life-changing

I wanted to study the MA Anthropology programme at UCC because it offered a unique opportunity to engage in ethnographic practice through fieldwork placement. I was also drawn to the participatory and interdisciplinary learning environment the course facilitates. 

Through an array of academic perspectives and the various modules offered, I was given ample opportunity to develop my passion for creative methodologies and ethnographic writing. From envisioning parkour as the antidote to alienation to undertaking ethnography led by the stomach with Ukrainian migrants in Ireland, I enjoyed exploring a mixture of topics and ethnographic

Overall, the MA Anthropology course has provided me with a diverse and fruitful set of tools and skills that I apply to my current work as research support for A Feminist Walk of Cork, a series of walks that write women into the spaces and topography of the city.
