PhD Scholarship in the School of Film, Music & Theatre, 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork
The School of Film, Music & Theatre, 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork, is delighted to announce a scholarship for prospective PhD students with a value of US$10,000 (US Dollars) per year for three years (approximately EUR鈧9,000 at current exchange rates).
The Scholarship has been made available by Douglas Murray and the WHH Foundation in memoriam Dr. Danijela Kulezic-Wilson, a member of staff in the Music Department until her passing in 2021, whose innovative research on film music and sound is respected worldwide and was an outstanding exemplar of interdisciplinary thought.
The award will be made to the applicant who, in the opinion of the selection panel, proposes a PhD in any of the disciplines available in the School of Film, Music & Theatre that is notably innovative and, in line with Dr. Kulezic-Wilson鈥檚 research, addresses topics and/or employs methodologies that exhibit interdisciplinarity. The award is available for PhDs employing either scholarly or practice-based approaches, or in any combination permitted by the School鈥檚 current doctoral programmes.

The annual School of Medicine Prize-Giving Ceremony took place virtually on Friday 11 December 2020.
The Dean of the School, Professor Paula O鈥橪eary was delighted to welcome the prize winners, and the students who had other notable achievements, along with their guests, and faculty of the School of Medicine to the online Ceremony. Professor O鈥橪eary pointed out that discipline, commitment, effort, resilience and passion underpin the characteristics required to excel in healthcare and medical science. The Puttnam Scholarship programme at UCC supports the next generation of film-makers and creatives, offering students from any discipline the opportunity to work with and learn from the legendary producer of films including Chariots of Fire and Midnight Express.
A digital education pioneer, Lord David Puttnam launched the scholarship in collaboration with UCC鈥檚 College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences back in 2018.

Megan Buckley and Lisa de Klerk have been awarded Higher Education Scholarships for Adult Learners from Registered Charity Uversity to pursue Bachelor鈥檚 Degrees at 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork. Uversity has offered 41 Scholarships to adult learners to commence Bachelor鈥檚 Degrees at twenty-one different higher education institutions on the island of Ireland in the 2020/21 academic year. Uversity鈥檚 scholarships are intended to remove financial barriers so adult learners can unlock their potential and realise their ambitions. Uversity鈥檚 scholarships provide multi-annual financial support for recipients to pursue a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree for the first time in participating third level institutions in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. Scholarships can be in any subject area and are tailored to recipients鈥 financial circumstances to cover the costs associated with higher education.
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate academic potential, a clear motivation and ambition for returning to education, a drive to succeed, strong work ethic and financial need. Uversity is particularly keen to support candidates who have an ability to be transformed and transform others as a result of this scholarship and educational experience.

The George Moore Scholars, a programme of The Ireland Funds, will support up to 300 outstanding students to undertake postgraduate study, mainly in the USA, in the period 2020-30.
The Scholarships will be high-value, multi-annual awards (1-3 years depending on the programme of study).
The George Moore Scholars will be selected from the eleven universities on the island of Ireland.
The Scholarships are open to outstanding students in all academic disciplines who expect to graduate from their primary degree in 2020 or who graduated from their primary degree in 2019.
Applicants who are awarded a George Moore Scholarship may combine it with other sources of support or scholarship (e.g. a Fulbright Student Award).
The closing date for completed applications is 27th March 2020.

The scholarship programme, sponsored by Ford, recognises excellence in Sport, Innovation/Entrepreneurship, Active Citizenship, Academia and Creative and Performing Arts.

The Dean of the School, Professor Paula O鈥橪eary welcomed the large number of prize-winners, their families and friends to the Ceremony. The Dean also had a warm welcome for the family and friends of deceased family members and past graduates of the 深夜亚洲福利久久 to the Ceremony.
On behalf of the School Professor O鈥橪eary congratulated the recipients of the Prizes who have excelled in a large number of disciplines at various stages of their academic studies. The Dean noted that as well as 深夜亚洲福利久久 and School Prizes many of the students and recent graduates have been recognised by external bodies, notably the NUI Dr Henry Hutchinson Stewart prizewinners and RCPI prizewinner, Dr. John David Kehoe. Dr. JD Kehoe was awarded the Reuben Harvey Prize at RCPI last month in recognition of his first place ranking in UCC Graduating Class of 2019.

Professor O鈥橲hea noted that Moss Keane had won 51 caps for Ireland including a Triple Crown in 1981, had toured New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions in 1977 and was a key member of the immortal Munster side to down the All Blacks in 1978.

Fifty-six award recipients across students and staff members of the College of SEFS were celebrated at the annual college awards ceremony, which took place online this year.
The event recognises and celebrates the successes and achievements of students and staff members during the previous academic year. These include high-profile award recipients nominated for recognition by their unit, college-level award winners, and student-nominated outstanding staff members. Students from within the college who have received university-awarded prizes are also recognised. This year, the SEFS Graduate of the Year is Conor Healy, a graduate of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, who is due to start a Ph.D. in Power Converters for Environmental Applications in UCC next September. The Graduate of the Year Runner Up is Emma Lyons, who graduated in 2020 with a BSc in Genetics and is now is currently studying Graduate Entry Medicine. This year, the 深夜亚洲福利久久 Graduate of the Year 2020 鈥 which considers students from across all four colleges 鈥 is a SEFS graduate: Ciara Judge, who studied Genetics.

Dairygold has announced that it will award two annual undergraduate bursaries to students undertaking the Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree at 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork (UCC).
The sponsorship of these bursaries coincides with the commencement of this new degree programme in September 2019.
The successful students will receive an annual bursary for the duration of their undergraduate studies at UCC and will also be offered the opportunity to avail of a work placement with Dairygold.
Successful applicants will be awarded the bursary following a selection process involving an application and an interview and will be expected to submit a short annual progress report as they progress through their degree.

深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork has announced the six recipients of the prestigious Puttnam Scholarship, which kicked off with a digital seminar with Lord David Puttnam.
The scholars Lucy Creedon, Elinor Dolliver, Liam Fleming, Andy Killian, Ben Whyte O鈥機allaghan and Ois铆n O鈥橠riscoll, come from a wide range of academic backgrounds, from Civil Engineering and History of Art to English and Digital Humanities, and all hope to pursue careers in Ireland鈥檚 vibrant creative industries.
The Puttnam Scholars will work together to make a short film, which will be shot and edited in the summer of 2019, and screened in November as part of a presentation to Lord Puttnam and invited guests. Each of the students also received a bursary of 鈧1500.
