The late Miss Mary Ryan, who had been Professor of Romance Languages for the period 1909-38, made a bequest of €1,778 to the ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã for the purpose of endowing a summer holiday scholarship or a scholarship of short period for the study of French in France. More than one scholarship may be awarded.
Eligibility to apply
Candidates who shall not be native speakers of French must have obtained an aggregate of 180 out of 300 marks in French in the First ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Examination in Arts in ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork or in the First ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Examination in the BComm (Hons) (International) (or, in the case of students taking a BCL (Hons) in Law and French, must have obtained an aggregate of 240 marks out of 400) and must be pursuing French to honours degree level in the ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã.
Two scholarships may be awarded and the current value of each scholarship is c. €2,500.
