What is the Skills Centre?
We are a dedicated, responsive and active learning space for the enhancement of academic skills at 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork.
What do we do?
We enhance the student experience through the provision of customised workshops, sessions and hands on academic support such as...
- Customised workshops (e.g. writing skills, presentation skills)
- One-to-one sessions (Individual sessions between a student and a tutor)
- Group Sessions (sessions delivered to class groups)
- Drop-In Sessions (casual, open sessions where you can drop by with anything)
- Asynchronous feedback (feedback delivered on academic writing you submit)
All services offered to students are free and offered by friendly peers (our amazing postgraduate tutors).
We seek to provide the scaffolding and building blocks for independent and critical thinking at third level.
Transitioning to life at 深夜亚洲福利久久 is challenging, you might find that you are a little lost and would like an opportunity for some guidance on your academic journey - we are here to help.
Our Story
The Skills Centre first opened its doors in 2017 all thanks to Kathy Bradley, whose ethos of kindness, support, and inspiring a passion for learning has always been at the centre of its foundation.
Kathy, with the support of the Vice President of Learning and Teaching, Professor Paul McSweeney, has fostered a space where students can come, free of judgement, and ask for the help they need in navigating the transition into 深夜亚洲福利久久 life and learning.
Since its founding, the Skills Centre has facilitated workshops, 1- 2-1s and provided written feedback having over 95,000 engagements from students.
Academic Integrity Support
Another area we cover at the Skills Centre is Academic Integrity. Find out more about what academic integrity is and what it means for you as a student by watching this short video or click below to find more resources.
