About Us

A big hello from all of us here at UCC Canoe Club! We believe there’s no better way to spend your Friday afternoons than on the lovely River Lee. Our club caters to paddlers of all levels, from expert kayakers to complete beginners who have never even sat in a boat before.

This club is a fantastic way to try something new and meet people who are eager to share their love for our awesome sport. Our disciplines include freestyle, whitewater, canoe polo, and long distance—all of which we love equally! We hold weekly sessions on the river and in the Mardyke swimming pool.

We welcome new members throughout the year, so feel free to pop along to a Friday session to try your hand at kayaking and meet all our wonderful members. While we’ve won intervarsities for the past four years in a row, it’s not all about competition!

With many longstanding traditions, events, and trips, there’s never a dull moment in the Canoe Club. Join us on our annual Jack’s trip to Lahinch in semester one, and head to Limerick for varsities in semester two. Our social events help welcome new members and mix the new with the old, forming many lifelong friendships.

So why not give it a go? Come down to the sheds on Fridays at 2:30 pm, say hello, and join in! See you on the river!
