The Lewis Glucksman Gallery is a cultural and educational institution that promotes visual arts research, creation and exploration. It is an important venue for public art and socially engaged arts practice. It has
an educational mission to work with the community to enable people of all ages and abilities to engage with visual art.
It has a growing reputation for bridging university research and civic and social justice issues to create art that is trans-disciplinary, collaborative and participatory. Its political activism frequently sparks debate,
collaboration and social interaction, which at another level, is the art. In 2015 children living in Direct Provision centres in Cork City created and exhibited artworks in the gallery as part of a national initiative with the Irish Laureate na n脫g (Youth Laureate) and children鈥檚 writer Eoin Colfer鈥檚 Once upon a Place exhibition. The Glucksman continues to work with children in Direct Provision throughout the year and as part of UCC's Refugee Week annual event programme.
