FUAIM Concert - Eithne N铆 Chath谩in - 07/02/25, 1:10pm, Aula Maxima, UCC
In asscoiation with Trad Fest 2025, Fuaim is delighted to present Eithne N铆 Chath谩in
Eithne N铆 Chath谩in (Inni-K)鈥檚 music draws on her extensive background in sean-n贸s and traditional music, even as she ventures into new musical territories. She is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and teacher.
Inni-K鈥檚 highly celebrated third and latest studio album 滨苍铆辞苍, released in 2022 is a contemporary sean-n贸s album, a collection of 9 songs uniquely arranged together with her fellow collaborators. Described by Folk Radio UK as 鈥榓n album of tremendous understatement, power and beauty鈥 and by The Irish Times as 鈥榓 sparkling collection of songs that shimmer in the heat of Inni-K鈥檚 warm, unforced voice,鈥 滨苍铆辞苍 has received such accolades as 鈥楾op of the World鈥 album by Songlines Magazine and picked up two nominations in RT脡 Radio 1 Folk Awards 2022, for Best Folk Album and 脡amonn an Chnoic, for Best Traditional Folk Track.
Inni-K鈥檚 original songwriting, as evidenced in her acclaimed albums The Hare & the Line 2019 and The King has Two Horse鈥檚 Ears 2015, combine ethereal vocals with deft musicianship, evocative lyrics and a unique approach to song-writing. She is currently recording her fourth studio album due for release later this year.
Eithne has toured the world with her music and song, performing most notably at Irish Arts Center, New York, Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, Symphony Hall Birmingham, Cork Opera House and National Concert Hall, Dublin. She has enjoyed touring with various projects and shows; including as singer and fiddle player with Fabulous Beast dance theatre production 鈥楻ian鈥 in theatres and venues all over the world.
As someone who鈥檚 collaborated with everyone from Liam 脫 Maonla铆, Cormac Begley and Maiti煤 脫 Casaide (in their band, R茅) to renowned jazz drummer Jeff Ballard, and shared stages with Malian kora master, Toumani Diabat茅, and Efterklang, among many more, Eithne is an artist who鈥檚 forged her own path on a foundation of sean-n贸s song, but with a clear sense of exploration of its outer reaches. Her creativity and enjoyment of exploration imbues her work and performances.
Eithne is a well sought after teacher of sean-n贸s and traditional song, and teaches regular courses in The Cobblestone, Dublin and online, as well as at festivals, arts centres and cultural centres at home and abroad. She is also a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, teaching in Ireland and internationally, having been trained in the Interactive Teaching approach by its founder Don Weed.
鈥One of Ireland鈥檚 most exciting artists鈥 The Irish Times
鈥One of the most acclaimed voices in the extraordinary revival of traditional and folk music we have witnessed in recent years.鈥 RT脡 Radio 1, Arena
