Congratulations to Dr. Fiona McDonald
Congratulations to Dr. Fiona McDonald, Department of Physiology, who has been awarded a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Starter Investigator Research Grant (SIRG) award (鈧�511,000) for her project 鈥淎 trilogy of stressors in the NICU: Towards therapy for preterm adversity鈥�.
The call was open to international early career investigators, with 18% of applications funded from over 100 competitive applications.
The award has provided opportunity for Fiona to recruit and develop an independent research team within the Department of Physiology. Ms. Maria Casac茫o and Ms. Karen O鈥機onnor have joined Fiona鈥檚 group and are currently developing a novel animal model of early life stress, to embark on basic and translational studies in collaboration with colleagues in the INFANT centre, building further upon existing links between Physiology and clinical colleagues at the centre.
