Susan Dineen showcases the development of a novel perinatal specialist medical scientist programme at CUH National HSCP Day event
On Wednesday 17 April, a showcase marking National Health and Social Care Professionals (HSCP) Day 2024, was held at Cork ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Hospital (CUH). Susan Dineen, Specialist Medical Scientist in Perinatal Pathology at Cork ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Hospital (CUH) and PLRG member, spoke about the development of a novel perinatal specialist medical scientist programme, on behalf of the perinatal pathology team.
This initiative was highly commended under the Innovation in Service Delivery Category at the 2023 Health Services Excellence Awards and was also presented at the International Stillbirth Alliance Conference and at Ireland South Women and Infants Directorate Grand Rounds in 2023.
The theme of HSCP Day 2024 was ‘Health and Social Care Professionals – Working in Partnership’, highlighting the value that working together brings to the delivery of high quality, integrated care and how HSCP work in partnership on a daily basis.
The HSCP showcase event at CUH was opened by Jackie Reed, National Lead at the National Health & Social Care Professions Office, in the HSE. The role of the National HSCP Office is to strategically lead and support HSCP to maximise their potential and achieve the greatest impact for the design, planning, management and delivery of people centred, integrated care. , provided closing remarks. Other speakers included Aislinn Griffin (Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist, CUH) and Thomas Dekker (Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, CUH). A poster display also showcased the range of quality improvement initiatives, new service developments, and service enhancements that HSCP deliver at CUH.
