Abstract
Perinatal palliative care (PNPC) is the holistic approach to the overall care of a baby and family when a baby is diagnosed with a life-limiting condition or illness during pregnancy or in the early days of life. As an approach to care, PNPC attends to the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the overall care of a baby and family from the moment of diagnosis, through to the death of a baby and family bereavement care afterwards. This chapter explores the challenging clinical, ethical and practical issues in perinatal loss and provides models of care to provide the highest quality of care and symptom control to a baby and her/his family.
